Expert Mechanical, Welding & Electrical Engineering.
North West
United Kingdom

With over three decades of real-world experience in heavy industry, marine engineering, training, and advanced manufacturing, Lamont Engineering Services offers something most firms don’t: practical know-how combined with educational depth. Based in the North West of the UK. We provide specialist mechanical, fabrication, welding, and electrical services throughout Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cumbria and surrounding areas. Whether it’s high-spec industrial work, detailed inspections, or skill-based consultancy, we’ve lived it, built it, and taught it.

The owners career has taken him from the refit decks of jack-up rigs and testing rigs to teaching in Saudi Arabia and training future engineers for Bentley Motors and UK colleges. That depth of understanding shows in every job we do. No shortcuts, no fluff, just solid engineering.

What We Offer: Real Engineering, No Guesswork

We support fabrication, fitting, and maintenance in line with the highest industry standards: ISO, ASME, IMO, Lloyd’s Register, and Bureau Veritas. From pipe systems and valves to manholes, coatings, and above the-waterline welding, we’ve worked on vessels undergoing refit and rigorous testing procedures. Including NDT/DT Testing If it needs cutting, shaping, welding, assembling, lifting, or inspecting, we’ve likely done it before, and we know how to do it right.

Marine and Heavy Industry Know-How

Our background includes hands-on engineering apprenticeship trained crafts person with a focus on welding, machining, and electrical systems. We’ve trained and worked under demanding frameworks such as the Defence Maritime , Pressure Vessel and General Fabrication. Including Sheetmetal

We’re not just ticking boxes. We’re bringing proven field experience in:

  • Pipefitting
  • Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), including “below the waterline” requalification
  • Manual machining (lathe, Bridgeport Milling) and CNC XYZ setup/programming
  • Civil, electrical, and mechanical inspection
  • 2 / 3 phase and delta/star VFD electrical systems
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems, integrated with PLC control
  • Fitting, rigging, and safe lifting procedures using cantilever cranes

Training, Education, and International Work

Work extends beyond the tools. At ITQAN College in Saudi Arabia ,the company brokered and organised the recruitment, training, and assessment of multicultural staff, aligning delivery with UK City & Guilds standards. The company has helped shape education delivery in welding inspection, NDT, civil and electrical inspection, and supported the Saudi Vision 2030 by training national staff to teach and assess.

With Bentley Motors in Crewe and Saudi Aramco (Saudi Arabia) . The company developed bespoke short courses in TIG welding, Health & Safety, CAD, and manual drawing, ensuring workshop supervisors across the VAG group were skilled up to Level 3.

Back in the UK, the business helped establish End Point Assessments and technical module delivery for engineering apprenticeships, ensuring future engineers are ready for industry, not just exams.

Exploring Industry 4.0: Innovation at a Practical Level

While continuing to study and experiment with new technologies. The company introduced aspects of Industry 4.0 into Level 2 and Level 3 Engineering courses. His aim: bring high-tech tools into real-world applications without overcomplicating them.

This includes:

  • CNC (XYZ lathe and milling)
  • Siemens S1200 PLCs and conveyor simulations
  • Additive manufacturing
  • CAD (Inventor, NX, Onshape)
  • Robotics (Dobot & Ufactory Lite 6 cobots)
  • Virtual Reality tools via STEEM
  • Introductory AI applications using NVIDIA, Raspberry Pi, and Arduino

All delivered with the same hands-on attitude: no jargon, just smart applications.

Health and Safety First

Safety isn’t a side note. The owner is fully qualified in IOSH Management of Health and Safety (completed 2023) and adheres to safe working practices including Abrasive Wheels (certified since 2007). Whether on-site or in a training environment, risk awareness and safe operation are non-negotiable.
